Mentoring Expectant and Parenting Youth in Foster Care: Lessons from the Field

 

In this webinar, presented by CSSP's Expectant and Parenting Youth in Foster Care Learning Collective, Barbara Oleachea, Program Planner with Sacramento County, California’s Child Protective Services and Brenda Dabney, Director at the Children’s Law Center of Sacramento, CA, present on their unique approach to ensuring that every expectant and parenting youth is connected to a mentor. Their approach includes collaborative partnerships that create a shared system for recruitment, capacity building, tracking impact and continuous quality improvement. They will discuss implementation efforts, challenges and lessons learned. Additionally, a young parent from Sacramento County shared her mentoring experience and offered her insight on what is working well, challenges yet to be overcome and recommendations.
