Resident and Youth Engagement
Building leaders from within a community is a core part of CSSP’s work. Encouraging community residents to engage and lead community change leads to better results for children and families. Community residents are helping to shape and implement family and community strengthening agendas. Engaging youth and residents as leaders is key to building strong communities.
This work includes:
- Interviewing more than 60 leaders in Leadership Journeys project to translate their experiences into concrete suggestions for supporting and engaging resident leaders.
- Mapping the steps to resident engagement and leadership in the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Making Connections initiative to show how different strategies add up to a robust approach.
- Mining lessons from the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s the community and constituency engagement strategies during the past 15 years to better understand how approaches to community and constituency engagement change across different initiative types and structures.
