Administrative Assistant


Organization Overview

The Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP), located in Washington, DC and New York City, is a nonprofit public policy and technical assistance (TA) organization. Job Overview:

We are looking for a great Administrative Assistant to join our team in New York. A general description of the duties for this job is listed below. The list is not exhaustive; rather it is representative of the kind of work the selected candidate will do.

Primary Responsibilities

General Administrative

• Coordinate logistics for on-site and off-site meetings and conferences
• Oversee management of filing system
• Proofread reports, proposals, letters, etc.
• Pro-actively support a team approach
• Prepare expense reports
• Conduct research for various reports
• Cover reception desk

Office Management

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the New York office, including handling facilities serving as point person for IT and other equipment/vendor matters
• Track various service accounts and negotiate rates for services
• Process contracts for consultant work and check requests, and track budget

What Does It Take To Work at CSSP?

We seek someone who has a commitment to our values and principles; is results-oriented; has good administrative and organizational ability with high attention to detail; and can work collaboratively with a diversified team on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment We expect the Administrative Assistant to possess excellent oral and written communication skills; have strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel); outstanding interpersonal skills used to work with a diverse group of peers, consultants, advisors and grantees; and possess sound judgment and common sense, including knowing when to use and show discretion, listen well, and show fairness in all interactions. Some travel may be necessary. A Bachelors degree is required plus a minimum of one year relevant work experience.
